Alaska Mountain & River Adventures (AMRA) offers our clients a remote, wild Alaska adventure. These are fly in trips with bush plane from Anchorage to the Alaska Mountain Range and the Alaska Peninsula, no roads and no other people. This is what Alaska is genuinely all about!! Towering youthful mountains, glaciers, meandering mountain glacial fed rivers, brown/grizzly bears, black bears, Dall sheep, caribou, moose, wolves, wolverines and much more.

AMRA is owned and operated by Dan Aasmundstad (registered guide & outfitter) who has been guiding for the past 20 plus years offering outdoor enthusiasts the best Alaska has to offer. Our part of Alaska will take you back in time. Dans outdoor adventures began at the age of 5 years old when his father and two brothers went duck hunting and dan was invited along to be the two legged retriever. At that time dan thought ducks landed in trees just like most all birds, not so Dan found out. Dan enjoyed every minute of it and never looked back.

Dans Alaska outdoor experiences started in the early 1980's being trained by and working for Branham Adventures (Dennis Branham master guide #2 and Chris Branham master guide # 65) in the beginning and also trained and worked for Jungles, Deserts, & Mountains (bush pilot and Registered guide/outfitter Barry Aasmundstad and Registered guide/outfitter Mark Collins. Dans thorough knowledge of Alaskas land and wildlife comes from the mentorship of these individuals. At times AMRA still works in conjunction with it's mentors.

Our camps are rustic and comfortable. Log cabins with wood floors and wood stoves, wall tents with wood floors and wood stoves along with cots and bunks for your sleeping comfort. The food is exceptionally good for being in the middle of nowhere, and the friendly service is unmatchable. We take a limited number of clients on each adventure to keep the quality of your experience at its highest level. We are not into high volume. You and your personal guide hunt out of your own personal camp. We are also checked on by the bush plane halfway thru the hunt.

WE OFFER 4 night and 5 day camping, hiking, wildlife viewing, photography or just plain relaxing around camp in the middle of nowhere trips with 2 days of Salmon and Halibut fishing at the end of the trip (6 nights & 7 days total). This is a great trip for families, groups of friends, reunions, etc... Come on along and experience real Alaska!! These trips take place starting in May and end in August.

BIG GAME HUNTING with 7 to 14 day hunts. Dall sheep, brown/grizzly bear, black bear, caribou, moose, wolf and wolverine. August, September and October we hunt these species in the Alaska Mountain Range.

COASTAL BROWN BEAR HUNTS on the Alaska Peninsula take place in May of ever years and October of odd years.

RAFTING, fishing and camping trips are June thru August.
